Your Journey Starts Here

Your Journey Starts Here

I am a Yoga Alliance Certified Somatic Coach & Trauma Informed Yoga Teacher based in Basingstoke, Hampshire.

My work focuses on understanding your body as a whole organic being made up of Soma, Psyche and Soul. This bottom up approach encourages healing from your inner wisdom through understanding that your body, mind and soul work as one entity not separate components. Working with yourself in this way helps to provide a natural remedy for anxiety and trauma.

Soma is the understanding that your body stores your life experiences so becomes the biography of you. Traumatic experiences remain etched in your system causing tension, anxiety, repetitive behaviours and addictions. Trauma is not the event but the affect it leaves you with throughout life. In the western world, we see the body as a mechanical machine which we can fix through medical intervention. It is true that we can fix the function of our body medically but we can also view the body as organic and understand that what is stored in the essence of the body also needs to be addressed and released so you are able to move forward in life living more peacefully and balanced.

Psyche is your mind but not just as we interpret this on a psychological level. Psyche relates to your mindset, inner relationships with your critic and other parts, emotional patterns and your felt sense.

Soul is your connection to the universe. The ability to acknowledge and accept that the universe is there to support you and will enable you to achieve what you strive for when the time is right. Soul connection is knowing that you do not have to endlessly work to reach your full potential because everything falls into place at the right time.

I ensure wholeness is experienced in each session by include breathwork, meditation and gentle trauma sensitive yoga postures so you can reconnect with your body, calm your mind and have yoga as a tool to release trauma. We live in a very dissociated society and have lost connection with the wisdom of our soul so I aim to help you reconnect, understand and accept your essence to bring serenity to your life.

Movement in my sessions are flowing and calming so provide a restorative experience for your body, mind and soul. The aim of trauma informed yoga is to listen to your inner needs and respond to these in an empowered way through a sequence of guided postures which help to release your trauma, minimise anxiety symptoms such as panic attacks, social phobia, depression and dissociation.

Breathwork practices within my sessions are transformational and aim to relax your nervous system. Moving you away from your sympathetic (fight or flight) system and into your parasympathetic (rest and digest) system. I incorporate polyvagal theory into all my sessions to ensure that you understand the states you live in and can recognise the changes within you so you are in control of your life over the mechanisms of your stress system.

Meditations focus on cultivating loving kindness, compassion and inner peace. Breathwork meditations are a key part of my sessions because they help to transform your life quickly.

What to expect in a session:

Sessions begin with a somatic check in. Time spent to arrive on your mat and listen to your inner wisdom. Tuning into what you need and how you can answer that need. You will then be led through a therapeutic opening stretch designed to alter your nervous system so you are brought into a relaxed and present state.

You will then move into a breathwork meditation practice. Typically these are 5 minutes long.

Following this, you will be led through gentle yoga practices to release trauma so you can reconnect to your body. These include postures held for a few minutes and incorporate twists, forward bends and backbends.

We finish sessions with either a Yoga Nidra or a breathwork meditation before moving into relaxation.
